Meeting so many residents last year and hearing about the numerous quality of life issues such as increased traffic , continuous flooding, and over-development , it is clear that we have work that needs to be done. When elected, I promise to do all I can to represent and advocate for the best interests of ALL!
Robert Schaefer is a 23-year resident of Fair Lawn and lives with his partner Scott. Professionally, Robert works as a Consultant for Verizon Business Markets, and advocates for Small Business owners in our community. He has worked for Verizon in several functions for over 34 years. Robert is an active member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA Local 1000) and was previously elected by the membership as Secretary-Treasurer of the former CWA Local 1023. Robert is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management (1999) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2007). He also completed a Paralegal Studies Certification program in 2009.
The Fair Lawn Borough Council which governs our town has five members who serve four year terms. Members are elected every other year on odd numbered years with either two or three seats coming up for election as part of the November general election. In this election you will be voting for one seat in a "special election" in this General Election. All policy making power is concentrated in the council. At an annual reorganization meeting held after each election, the council selects a mayor, a deputy mayor, and a deputy mayor for community affairs from among its members. Since January of 2018, all five council seats are filled with members of the Democratic Party. In fact, here in Fair Lawn, every level of representation - town, county, state, and federal - is controlled by the Democratic Party. It’s time for a change this November! It’s time for a new voice, new ideas, and checks & balances!
